Kings Beach Community Information


Kings Beach is part of the Tahoe-Truckee Joint Unified School District. There are five elementary schools, two middle schools and four high schools within the district. Kings Beach Elementary School is highly recognized for its concentrated curricula for its K-5 students, which includes the Spanish Immersion Program, a bilingual program that teaches students how to learn Spanish as well as English.

There are a number of colleges in the neighboring cities of Kings Beach. Sierra Nevada College is a small, private l liberal arts college which offers four year bachelor's degrees focused in the liberal arts. Nearby Lake Tahoe Community College offers two year associate degrees in various academic majors.

There is always something to do in the quaint community and surrounding areas of Kings Beach. A delightful museum that is a great stop for families is Tahoe Tessie's Lake Monster Museum. This establishment boasts of the tales of Tessie, a sea monster that allegedly roams the waters of Lake Tahoe. The museum is only part of the fun as the gift shop features Tessie t-shirts, souvenirs and books.

Visitors and locals alike also enjoy Coon Street Beach, a small but friendly dog beach that is known for its sheer beauty and happy pups that bounce along the shoreline. Tahoe Paddle and Oar is also a great activity for the whole family as it features kayaking tours of Lake Tahoe. In terms of nightlife, older residents enjoy the Biltmore Tahoe Lodge and Casino. This flashy destination boasts a 'get lucky on the lake!' motto and is known for its scenic views of Lake Tahoe. The Casino and Lodge hold nightly entertainment as well as fine restaurants.

Placer County is particularly known for its large variety of golf courses. Turkey Creek Golf Club, which is located in Lincoln, CA, is indeed a local favorite. The Ridge Golf Course remains a constant favorite among golfers as well. This 18-hole course rolls over natural landforms, rolling rocks and rambling creeks. The two favorite holes in the area are #4, which requires a second shot over a creek, and #13.

In addition, residents of Kings Beach enjoy the many parks in the area. North Tahoe Regional Park is a destination for visitors and locals alike. The park is absolutely spectacular with 124 acres of splendid greenery. Visitors are welcome to the self-guided nature trail which runs through the National Forest Land, as well as the lovely picnic areas sprinkled along the way. The park is subject to a fair amount of snow in the winter, where sledders can play for hours on end in this magical Winter Wonderland. Cross-country skiers and snowshooers can also explore the surrounding trails.

Another favorite park is Kings Beach State Park. This park surrounds a gorgeous lake that is popular for water sports in the summer and is shrouded by Ponderosa Pine and small brush. In the winter, the park is located near fantastic local ski resorts, making it an excellent place for snow play.
